Post Operative Instructions For the Surgical Procedure

These post-operative instructions are intended as general guidelines to support your recovery. Your individual care plan may differ based on your specific procedure and medical needs, and Dr. Mucci or his team may provide personalized instructions to ensure the best results and safety.
  1. Do not drive a car or make important legal decisions for 24 hours after your surgery, or while taking pain medication, as your judgment may be impaired.
  2. Drink plenty of liquids in the next 48 hours. You may resume your normal
    diet, as tolerated.
  3. Take medications as directed. Cool packs may be used to the forehead or eyelids, but not directly on the nose.
  4. Do not blow your nose. You may change the ‘drip pad’ as necessary.
Avoid sneezing. Do not clean the inside of your nose.
  5. Do not bend over, strain, lift or exercise for at least one week or until Dr.
Mucci tells you it is okay.
  6. Do not shower for one week, or until external splint is removed. It is okay
    to take a tub bath.
  1. Please keep the external splint dry. Your splints will be removed by Dr.
Mucci at your first and second post op visits.
  2. Sleep with your head elevated.
  3. You may find a humidifier helpful.
  4. If you wear glasses, do not allow them to rest directly on your nose. Put
tape on the bridge of your glasses and tape them to your forehead, to
lift them off of your nose.
  5. If you experience excessive pain, bleeding or a temperature greater than 100.5, please call the office.
  6. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the office.
