Post Operative Instructions For Liposuction
These post-operative instructions are intended as general guidelines to support your recovery. Your individual care plan may differ based on your specific procedure and medical needs, and Dr. Mucci or his team may provide personalized instructions to ensure the best results and safety.
- Do not drive a car, operate machinery or make important legal decisions for 24 hours after your surgery, or while taking pain medication, as your judgment may be impaired.
- Drink plenty of liquids in the next 48 hours. You may also resume your normal diet as tolerated. Adding additional protein will help during the healing process.
- Take medications as directed.
- No exercise or strenuous activity until instructed.
- Wear loose fitting clothing, sweats may be most comfortable.
- Keep the garment on at all times, except while showering. You may wash the garment as needed. You may be instructed to wear it for 6-8 weeks depending on the areas involved.
- You may change the gauze over your incisions as needed. Some areas may “drain” or “leak” more than others, this is normal. Leave the steri strips in place.
- If you experience excessive pain, bleeding or a temperature greater than 100.5, please call the office. If it is after hours leave a message and Dr. Mucci will return your call.
- If you have any questions before or after your surgery, please feel free to call the office.
- Ice for 48 to 72 hours after surgery. Try to ice 20 min on and 20 min off while awake. Frozen peas/corn work well.
